Ranikhet is a hill station in Uttarakhand State, northern India. It’s known for its views of the Himalayas. Hundreds of bells adorn Jhula Devi Temple, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga. Fruit trees grow on the terraced orchards of Chaubatia Gardens, with views of peaks including Nanda Devi. Mahatma Gandhi stayed in a hut, Gandhi Kuti, in nearby Tarikhet village during the independence.
The famous Temple of Chitai Almora is the Golu Devta Chitai temple, dedicated to Gollu or Goljyu Devta an Avtar (incarnation) of Lord Shiva in the form of Gaur Bhairav. Although there are many temples of Golu Devta in Almora but the Chitai Golu Devta Temple is the most sacred one. It is reputed to make every wish come true, provided the worshipper ask for it with a clear conscience. The temple is situated at 9kms from Almora.

Binsar Mahadev temple is famous for its archeological significance, being an ancient construction of 9th century. It is believed to be constructed in just one day. Binsar Mahadev is said to have been built in 9/10th Century and thus has been an important religious place in Uttarakhand since ages. The idol of Maheshmardini is engraved with texts in ‘ Nagarilipi ‘ that dates back to 9th century. The shrine is believed to be built by King Pithu in memory of his father Bindu and it is also known as Bindeshwar temple.
Mahamritunhay temple is the biggest among the group of temples in Jageshwar Dham. Maha Mritunjay temple is the most beautiful temple as well. There are around 124 temples that are located in the town and these include many small stone temples and large temple complexes as well. Some of the main temples are the Dandeshwar Temple, Jageshwar Temple, Surya Temple, Kuber Temple, Chandi ka Temple, Mritunjaya Temple, Nanda Devi Temple and the Kuber Temple. The Dandeshwar Temple is the biggest of the lot and many devotes can be seen in here. Among the oldest standing temples is the Mritunjaya Temple. Two main festivals are celebrated in the town of Jageshwar and these are the Jageshwar Monsoon Festival which is held during the month of August and the Shivarathri Mela which is held in the spring season.

The Haidakhan Temple is adorned at Chidianuala Ranikhet. This temple is made by Haidakhan who is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva to whom this temple is dedicated. Haidakhan's birth has always been a mystery. He left his mortal remains in 1984, at an early age.
Dunagiri temple is located 14 kms far from Dwarahat. The temple is dedicated to goddess Durga. It is believed that when Hanuman Ji was carrying the mountain with 'Sanjiwani buti' for Laxman, a piece of it fell here and since that day this place is known as 'Doonagiri' ('giri' meaning fell).
